Even if we made AI pups, that would not give you much control over them, in fact you would probably have less control. in the event a bear tries to kill a cub, a player can on the spot make choices to ensure survival, an AI must wait for specific triggers in order to react to an event, and those triggers are more often than not limited. If you said to an AI "sit" and it's programmed to listen, then yes it will sit, however, if that bear decides to walk up to the area of the pup AI, the AI will remain sitting by standard scripting rather than run for it's life. If you tell a player to sit, they might decide to sit or not, but when that bear walks in, they will have the common sense to run for their lives and hide without needing a command to do it.
Wall of text, sorry. My point is, all of the wolves you encounter in game will be players, not everyone will be a pup, and not everyone will be an adult. Special menu systems are already planned to completely bypass the need for "pup begging" and "mate begging", the system even takes into account parent wolves to want a specific look for the pup.
As for health bars and things, they will be non intrusive versions, it's planned that some maps will require you to be more attentive to the needs for your wolf, hunting will be needed to survive, and if you push them to far they can become to exhausted to function for longer periods of time. If you are killed (faint) one time, then recover and then are killed again right after, the game will take that into account and each time recovery will take longer. There will be no such thing as a re-spawn in this game, however, if you really really really want your wolf to die, it can become impossible to play the character though racking its recovery time into the hours range.
The death of characters is not absolutely planned out, it is actually one of the more pragmatic parts of the game. But please understand we have already taken what you are saying into account as it has been pointed out to use more than once in the past. General game suggestions are closed.
I don't think she's saying that- but rather a max time limit... for example: 5 minutes is the total you'll reach in having to wait for your wolf to recover.
